The title of this blog comes from Moroni 7:19 in the Book of Mormon:

Wherefore, I beseech of you, brethren, that ye should search diligently in the light of Christ that ye may know good from evil; and if ye will lay hold upon every good thing, and condemn it not, ye certainly will be a child of Christ.

This blog will address “every good thing” from my personal experience and LDS theology as well as scientific and technical truths. Does this seem unusual? Joseph Smith, the founder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and accepted by Mormons as a latter-day prophet said this:

One of the grand fundamental principles of “Mormonism” is to receive truth, let it come from whence it may. Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 313.

This is my personal sentiment. Truth is “knowledge of things as they are, and as they were, and as they are to come” (D&C 93:24), so it’s a knowledge of reality, embracing and encompassing all frames of reference at once. We certainly can’t know all truth by ourselves in this life, but we can come to know many truths, including (through revelation, predicated on well-defined principles) what’s needed to pass this test called life and inherit what God hopes for us.
